I Got Away

Just for a few days anyway. First time ever I've had time just to sit and think and not lift a finger! (Except for personal hygiene). Oh yes, it was a good thing, friends I tell you. Loads of time, well two days and three nights, to think about my situation and just relax with it. And I got a better sleep on the last night too, which set up my Monday morning quite nicely. Something has changed a little over the weekend and it wasn't just me. Went to an appointment Monday afternoon and got some stuff sorted that needed to be, and I'm sitting a little better now that the other half knows what needs to be done - and what doesn't need to be done too.

Saw Swordfish while I was away, and the host had a Women's Pampering Night on Saturday too, so I ate yummy food, gave and received a nice back rub and put nail polish on before I left it too long and wimped out. Was good fun.

So It Snowed

Can you believe the schools shut because we had a little snow. I don't think Christchurch is ready or prepared for snow, so it just shuts down. The police were telling people to stay at home unless they really needed to go out. Cars were being left on the side of the road everywhere, as no-one had chains so the cars were just sliding around. I'm not sure how deep the snow was, but we had more last year. It didn't even collect on the driveway much. Very cold though, and power outtages south of here, and in Auckland too - where there wasn't any snow, just strong winds.

Yes, the kids and I managed to get in a snowball fight and Son is a good aim I'll tell you. Daughter spent most of her time preparing the balls, but Son just grabbed hunks and threw them. We had to come inside after about five minutes to thaw out our fingers - oh the burn!

Knitting wise, I've finished the front of the sweater so I must take photos of the back and front to post. I have to buy some double pointed needles so I can knit the sleeves, I want to do them from shoulder to sleeve. Worth a try.

I Saw The Wind But It Didn't See Me

So resting over the weekend was good. Master and Commander is on TV tomorrow night, with Russell Crowe,

among other great actors. Worth watching if I can stay awake long enough.

Streamed Carrot

Busy day today, dropped kids off to kindy and school. Went to library. Hubby gave me a neck massage as I've done something awful to it. Grr! Picked up Daughter from kindy. Went to cafe, had lunch. Talked to relatives at cafe - tiring. Picked up Son from school, Hubby got drugs from chemist. Took pain killers and lay in bed for an hour and a half with a migraine. Hubby picked up burgers for him and the kids for tea, while I watched and felt sick. Must sort out stuff and pick up the knitting again. I can't do that tonight as things are still swimming a bit, and I don't want to have to undo what I do tonight tomorrow. Ho hum.

On A Clear Day

Yay! I got to go and see On A Clear Day (here's the trailer)at the Arts Centre today. It's a smallish theatre, I saw What's Eating Gilbert Grape years ago in the same theatre with a friend. Today I went alone. Man Billy Boyd had a funny part in this movie. The theme of the movie is perfect for me right now. Facing up to hard problems and getting through them, even though there may be a bit of a struggle. Worth seeing, and worth waiting for.

Old Friends

So I met an old friend today. He opened my eyes to something I didn't want to believe with just one question.

Are you happy?

That's a hard question for me to answer, but now I know I have to figure out what I'm to do and how to do it. I know I can't sit still and watch any longer, I am a participant and not just a bystander. Big issues and big awkward solutions to deal with. I'm kinda happy about it though, or that might be the dysthymia kicking in, the feeling nothing part of my life. Someone dies, meh... someone gets married, meh. I wish I felt more emotion but I don't, and I have to be okay with that I suppose.

Cold Long Weekend

So last night I wasted some time on this movie that was on way too late. That in itself should have been some warning for me to go to bed instead. Anyway, someone else will enjoy this film more than me. It's eXistenZ with Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jude Law . I actually wanted to watch this to see what Christopher Eccleston's acting was like, but he was only really at the start of the movie.

Christopher Eccleston reminds me of Ralph Fiennes a little bit.

Oh well, at least I got a little more knitting done on the front of Daughter's purple jersey. I say a little because Billy the cat was asleep on my lap for a while last night and I couldn't possibly knit over his body.

Teething

Woo hoo!!! Son has his first adult tooth coming through at the front and I have proof.

He'll be happy when this sucker comes out 'cause he knows about the tooth fairy and will be expecting a coin for his tooth.

Also On A Clear Day is here at the Arts Centre in town, so I'll be getting my fix with that film soon. I'm happy that the movie is being shown here, as it seems to be a small film. Lucky me!
