Thunder and Lightning

We had a storm yesterday that lasted for a few hours, the kids enjoyed the sights and sounds. Usually Son is scared by the thunder, but he even watched with me and saw that the thunder was the sound that the lightning made. Though with the hail that came with it, the plants are a bit slashed, like the pumpkins may make it though they look like they've been run over with a lawn mower. I should mow the lawns too, they are getting a bit on the long side now.
Billy the cat played with that mouse for a week in the house before he got a bit too rough with it. I don't know what it was eating to live that long, but almost every night Billy would manage to catch it and play for a while, being very gentle and carrying it around like a kitten when he caught it.
Though on Saturday it all came to an end, and I had to remove the wee body on Sunday morning after the kids had both had a look at it's teeth and found it was a boy mouse. Billy was still waiting here Sunday night for his play even though there was no mouse in behind the oven. He's a hopeful cat....

Wow, what a day!
After having many days in a row of beautiful hot weather, we finally got rain today. And boy did it bucket down before dawn. Luckily for us the rain had weaned off to a heavy drizzle, so by the time we walked to school we didn't get too wet.
Son brought in a mouse that Billy the cat had been playing with on Sunday morning, by Sunday lunchtime the mouse was loose in the house. Billy ran around after it, and played cat and mouse, then eventually tired of the game and left it alone. We didn't see or hear the mouse again until late last night when I saw it run out of a plastic bag in the kitchen. Then early hours this morning I let Billy in because I could hear it running around in my bedroom. He chased it and played with it for a while, but didn't hurt it, he lovingly carried it from place to place so it could run away from him. Good for the mouse, but not for my nerves. I keep thinking I'm going to stand on the poor wee thing. Here's an action shot, you can see the mouse tail at the bottom of the photo on top of Billy's paw....

Here's the mouse hiding under the TV cabinet...

First Zucchini...

So here's the first zucchini I cut off the plant yesterday. Already there are two more growing and one is half the size of this one too. I'm going to use it in tonight's dinner.

Also here's the biggest pumpking hanging off the fence. It's almost 25 inches already. I've since tied some rope around the top of the stem to give it some help with staying on the vine.
