Who's Been Busy Then??

Here we go again on the merry-go-round we call knitting a sweater. Honestly though, I really enjoy doing it. Started sons hooded sweater, which he is already calling his hoody to show how cute he is. The Yarn is Shepherds Waterspun in Olive shade 103. Full of flecks of red blue and yellow there are also bits of grass all the way through it, I'm managing to pull out most of them though because son won't want a grass sweater. Here is the Yarn....

I think the colour is pretty accurate as I took the photos outside. I've done the back and front and they are on holders...

and the ribbing around the lower edge is neat I reckon with all the different colours in it...

I am now working on the first sleeve...

and when I was measuring the front and back together I noticed I failed to bind off 4 stitches at the point where the armpit will be, so I'll have to rip back and fix that, it's only on the front so won't take me long. The yarn is lovely to work with and has thick and thin areas in it, but feels felted, I suppose that's from the water spinning process. Here's a close up of the stitch and I included a piece with the grass in it so you could get in the mood to knit up some of this lovely wool...

must get back to knitting it, shouldn't take me long, I started it on the 17th October and I'm just about done with the body already.

Getting the seeds in the garden too, son has a radish patch near the back door and our carrots, potatoes and beans and up and going for it. Will put in some butter beans soon and trying to grow cucumbers this year.

FINISHED THE ARAN!

Yes, I just had to yell that really loudly. After almost two months I finally got there with hubbys sweater....

....have to wait for a nice sunny day to take an outside photo of hubby wearing his new sweater. Also have to catch him, as he's been wearing it non-stop since I finished it. Here is a few washed out photos, first the collar before I seamed the side of it...

...and the shoulder pieces before they got 'three needle bind off' done on them...

Now son is jumping for joy as I have started his hoodie sweater in Shepherd Waterspun Aran ply. It is a thick and thin 100% wool which feels almost felted, and really soft. Photos soon of the actual colour as the brown flecked with yellow, red and blue are hard to capture in the weather we are having at the moment. I'm doing a raglan shaping and am almost halfway up the back piece already as it's just stockinette stitch. Woo Hoo for finishing.

Unknown Item of Woollen Nature

What could this possibly be on the kids table?
Hmm, on further inspection it appears to be a sweater of some sort. One with a shoulder seam bound off and a collar half knitted on.
Okay, here is a photo of the unknown "thing"...

I spent a long time picking up the stitches around the neckline for the collar because I wanted it to be really tidy looking. Then I knit for three inches and bind off the collar loosely so I can sew it back onto itself for a neat and warm collar. I can't believe how quick I knit the collar up last night, I only have one more inch before binding off.

Son is getting excited too, because when I finish this sweater he knows I'll be making him one.

Can See The Finish Line

Warning! warning! Will Robinson, photos may take a while to load!

Here we go.. some pictures finally. Laid the front of the aran out on the kitchen table and had a good go at taking a photo of the cables. Man oh man, they just don't want to show their true beauty for me, but here they are anyhow....

...a bit blurry but another try...

..and here I tried to catch the colour of the lovely Naturally Merino Fine 10 ply #221....

so there we go.

Just have to knit a few more inches and account for the neckline, then I'm home and hosed. (Does anybody know where that saying comes from, kinda odd huh?).

Birthday Boy

We had a party on Saturday for Son who turns five on 5th. On Sunday we went out to my cousins farm where Son fed a lamb, (Daughter did too, but was scared of the lamb when it was standing still), and played with my cousins children. They really enjoyed both days. Here he is feeding the lamb..

I got a haircut today too, Son reckons my hair will get me married again, so I have to wear a hat and cover it up since I'm already married to Dad. Funny.

Nice and fluffy..

In knitting news, I have been able to get half the front done exactly last night. The pain has been bad lately so I have been taking the medicine which means I'm too stoned to knit. I don't want to make mistakes now when I'm almost finished, that would be awful!! I should be doing some more today and tonight when I've had my walk and the kids are in bed.
